Layering Guide
Your cold-weather layering system is built on three steps: a baselayer, a midlayer and a shell. The baselayer wicks moisture to keep you dry and comfortable. The midlayer traps warmth and regulates temperature. The shell protects you from wind, snow and cold. Together, the three layers help you stay warm and dry in any conditions.

Layering System
-
Baselayer
Keeps you warm and dry by wicking moisture away from the skin. Choose merino wool or polyester for warmth and breathability.
-
Midlayer
Retains body heat and transports moisture outward. Adjust depending on weather and activity. One or two lighter midlayers give great flexibility and temperature control.
-
Outer Layer
Protects from wind and rain. Choose shell garments or insulated jackets depending on conditions and activity level.
Baselayer
The layer closest to your body keeps you warm and dry by moving moisture away from the skin. Merino wool and polyester are ideal materials. Merino wool is soft, warm even when damp, naturally odour-resistant and highly breathable. Opt for long sleeves and long pants. Change baselayers if they become wet.
Midlayer
Your midlayer insulates by trapping body heat while allowing moisture to escape. The right choice depends on temperature and activity level. Two thinner midlayers offer better flexibility and easier temperature regulation than one thick layer. Add an extra layer during breaks or in very cold conditions.
Outer Layer
The outer layer works as a protective shell against wind and precipitation, while still letting moisture escape. Choose between fully wind- and waterproof shells or insulated options depending on expected weather and intensity.
Tip:
D’arbi is a premium shell system designed for skiers who push hard every day. Developed together with professional athletes, it’s built with purpose in every detail.
The new Notch shell is made for active skiers. Lightweight, flexible and durable, it’s packed with smart features and engineered for freeride performance – a favourite among our True Ambassadors. If you tend to get cold easily, the fully insulated Flow jacket is a great alternative.
